MicroEJ offers a low-cost/low-power solution to telecommunication devices and gateways as it delivers high-value services on cheaper/lower-power hardware based on embedded microcontrollers and microprocessors.

Device management

Most telecommunication devices need to be remotely commissioned, monitored, and managed. MicroEJ can support device management services based on standards using secured device identification.

A secured infrastructure

As telecommunication operators need to deploy dynamically services to their gateways and devices, MicroEJ Store offers a secure infrastructure for firmware and apps deployment, while MicroEJ OS offers a secure execution environment for multiple apps. Apps provide a way for flexible software content update without loss of service due to over-the-air (OTA) firmware update, as they can be installed and uninstalled on the fly. As apps are also much smaller than full firmware, their download is much more suitable for narrowband/intermittent networks.

MicroEJ OS provides a secure multi-app runtime environment that isolates the execution of apps from each other and from the system, so apps can’t jeopardize the security and integrity of an entire system and its personal data. Security at all levels is at the heart of MicroEJ solutions: data collection and storage, software execution, communications, identification and authentication.

For highly-connected devices

MicroEJ allows connecting with common Ethernet, Wi-Fi or 802.15.4 links, as well as to 2G/3G/4G cellular networks or low-power wide area networks (LPWAN) such as Sigfox and LoRaWAN with a wide range of modules.
MicroEJ provides IP-based networking with common protocols like TCP/IP and UDP/IP, as well as HTTP server and client. MicroEJ also offers secured communications over IP with TLS and DTLS. Advanced IoT protocols like MQTT or CoAP are available. All protocols are programmed using standard APIs that are independent from the hardware or protocol stack providers.
